You probably already know that I can't stop talking about dogs. Well, actually, I've never tried, but I am quite sure I can't. Like, last night, for example. Tony and I were getting ready to settle in for the night. We were quiet, watching tv and munching on popcorn, when I realized I forgot to tell him about my encounter with the neighbor's dog (whom I absolutely adore!). Suddenly, I sat bolt upright, smacked his arm and said "Oh, I forgot to tell you...." I guess I startled him, because his eyes got wide and his the look on his face was on of sincere concern. When I got done with my story, he looked relieved and told me how much he likes the neighbor's dog too.
I just get excited when it comes to dogs. I have so many stories to tell and not many people to tell them to (because I work with dogs, you know) so I'm super excited to announce that I am now a member of The Dog Writer's Association of America!
Founded in 1937 by The AKC, The Dog Writer's Association of America is the most recognized professional writing association devoted to dogs. Now, my stories have a place to live and will be read by so many people outside of my circle of friends and family.
This quarterly newsletter, called Ruff Drafts, includes all aspects of the dog world, from showing and confirmation, to exploring the human/animal bond. They recognize many kinds of media besides the written word and have included photographer's and artists into their ranks.
Sounds like the perfect place for me, huh? You can download the most current issue by clicking the button below.
I don't have any contributions in the current publication, but am writing for the Spring 2025 issue about my experience in Alaska with the Sled Dogs of Denali. Not only will I be able to write my story, I can share my photos as well.
I'm looking forward to being able to share my stories about dogs with a wider audience. I hope you’ll join me.

I just heard about them from Cindy! I'm joining too!
Nice! Do you know if they accept UK writers?
